About

Hartmann Preservation Services LLC is a woman-owned and operated small business based in Elkins, West Virginia. We are extremely passionate about preserving the history of our nation’s people through its architectural landscape, as well as supporting sustainable redevelopment efforts across the Mountain State to ensure that heritage remains accessible for future generations.

Kelsey is a lifelong Appalachian, born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and now residing in Elkins. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History focusing on Architectural History, and has since gained nearly a decade of experience in the preservation field. She started her career in interpretation for the National Trust for Historic Preservation at such sites as the President Woodrow Wilson House, Woodlawn, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Pope-Leighey House, followed by conducting physical repairs on historic structures with the Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area’s Hands On Preservation Team. In recent years, she has worked closely with the WVU Brownfields Assistance Center, Preservation Alliance of West Virginia, Woodlands Development Group, and other nonprofits devoted to revitalizing West Virginian communities through the preservation and adaptive reuse of their vacant and underutilized historic buildings.
